Who were the Elmwood Weirdo’s?

We were the truth seekers of night

The Catholic kids who loved Islam and Buddhism

Constant questioners

Tweaked out philosophers who partook in hippie love

Wicca fire warmers

Tough geeks

We were the ones no one wanted to understand

The anarcho-sufi movement sometimes referred to the Dervish Xers Movement is a group of Muslims that want to bring Islam back to the time of the prophet before clerics, before the split of Sunni and Shia, back to when Islam was seen as a mirror for each believer and dogma had yet to infringe on the spiritual growth of community at large.

They also reject to saying the familiar Shahadah siting it us non-Quarnic and instead only say what the Qur’an says to say: That there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah.

They tend to live in communal voluntary societies within cities or out in the country. Some even stop using modern technology while others use the tools available to spread there message of One God and One Love.

Like Christian Anarchists they tend to lean towards pacifism but believe in self-defense. They also are anti-sexist and anti-racist allowing women to lead prayers and all who love Allah are welcome among them as long as each individual knows that they are there own Imam. They may have difference but no difference is worth a split in stead they accept each other, have friendly talks and debates, and practice understanding to a high degree.

If the movement spreads we may see the closest form of Islam in Muhammad’s time. We will have to wait and see.

I would also like to note that most of the people in this movement distance themselves from Hakim Bey and his teachings seeing them as something outside of Islam as they see it.
